The year is almost at the end you will need to take time to set some goals for the coming year. However, there is a monster around the corner who will ensure that the set goals never get accomplished and before we know it, December 2025 will beckon. This monster is called PROCASTINATION.

Procrastination is simply the trouble of persuading yourself to do the things you should do! It is an active process where you choose to do something else instead of the task you know you should be doing. Understanding it better, it involves ignoring the unpleasant but most important task for the less urgent, easier, and more enjoyable one. Simply put, procrastinators choose leisure and fun over hard work.

How to know that you are procrastinating:

  • Your day is filled with low-priority tasks
  • You have been putting of an important task on your to-do list for a long time.
  • You start on an important task then you switch of to social media or go make a cup of coffee
  • You read your mails several times without making a decision on them.
  • You spend your time doing un-important tasks other people ask you to do instead of getting on the important tasks already on your list
  • What I would describe as the most dangerous is wait until you are in the ‘right mood, or wait for the ‘right time’ to tackle a task.

Action point:

Take a moment to do a personal evaluation and see if you are guilty of this. Be brutally honest with yourself.
