Proverbs 23:7
“As a man thinketh in his heart so is he!
Many preachers and motivational speakers have emphasized on this proverb but the question is, do we really ponder to really internalize what it truly means?
Every thought we think is a seed, and just like we plant maize and reap maize, so are our thoughts. What we plant as a seed in our thoughts, it becomes our harvest.
Simply put a man is literally what he thinks. His character therefore becomes a sum total of all his thoughts.
Man is made or unmade by himself: in the armory of thoughts he develops the weapons by which he destroys himself or he fashions the tools with which he builds for himself heavenly mansions of joy and strength and peace.
The greatest asset God gave man is the mind. A man’s mind can be likened into a garden. Have you ever walked around an estate and admired some gardens and wondered how they get it done? Where I lived there was this garden that was ever so neat and sometimes we would just walk around to take some photos there. In the same estate there were some gardens that were so un-kept to the extent that grass would grow on the road and it was such an unpleasant sight and annoying. This is the same with the garden called the mind which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild, But whether cultivated or neglected it MUST bring forth. If you do not put useful seeds into it, then an abundance of useless weed seeds will fall therein and will continue to produce their kind.
Just like a gardener must tend to his garden to keep it free from weeds, so must we tend to the garden of the mind and deliberately weed out all the wrong, useless and impure thoughts so that the right pure and useful thoughts can thrive and produce their own. By doing this man becomes a master gardener and is able to shape his character, circumstances and destiny.
MAN IS THEREFORE THE LORD, MASTER OF THOUGHT AND THEREFORE THE MAKER OF HIMSELF, THE SHAPER AND AUTHOR OF HIS ENVIRONMENT.
Not only does our thoughts shape our circumstances but also our bodies respond to our thoughts! The body is the servant of the mind and obeys the operations of the mind. Sickly, fearful and anxious thoughts will express themselves through a sickly body. At the command of glad and beautiful thoughts the body becomes clothed with youthfulness and beauty and is filled with vigor and grace.
To successfully direct your thoughts
- Have a strong desire – know what it is that you really want and fix your mind on it. Write it down and read what you have written at least twice a day.
- Apply Faith – Have a mental picture of yourself having accomplished what you desire. As you apply faith meditate on that which you desire and the more it becomes your dominant thought soon it will bear fruit
- Align your actions towards your desire – acquire knowledge and swing into action. Remember faith without actions is dead.
Let us all become the Master of our minds! Vetting every thought that we allow in!
